Nine out of ten people love chocolate and the tenth one is probably lying!

Chocolate takes the title for being the most preferred sweet treat across the world and if you are an ardent chocolate fan, you have already heard of Morde. Whether or not you have heard of them, we are sure that Morde Chocolate or Cocoa in some form or the other has graced your palate at some point in time; because every second baked product in India, be it confection or patisserie has a Morde signature ingredient in it! Essentially, they are your holistic, one-stop-shop for chocolate and its complementary items.

The Morde story is that of sheer passion – a passion for creating the perfect chocolate. Can you think of something more delicious and ambitious? The story began in December 1983 with Chandrakant Morde, a food technologist by qualification, setting up a small chocolate plant in his native village Manchar, today a bustling town in Pune district. He did so with a meagre capital of Rs. 5 Lakhs; after learning all there was to learn about cocoa and creating its numerous derivatives at Cadburys India, where he spent over a decade, gaining practical knowledge after he graduated. With that the foundation of a company that would surpass all others in the B2B chocolate and cocoa production market in India was firmly established.

We cannot dismiss the rest by calling it ‘history’. At Morde, the last four decades have witnessed nothing but perseverance, consistency and financial independence. What started from humble beginnings as a small unit, today has metamorphosed into a giant that produces over 54000 tons of chocolate every year! From a plant producing only 3 products it has morphed into a full array of over 150 customized formulations that cater to a wide variety of applications in the HoReCa, bakery, ice-cream, QSR, home baking and confectionery sectors today. Morde is the go-to brand for businesses that need chocolate in any form. They produce chocolates, fillings, creams, compounds, cocoa products and decorations in addition to inclusions, chocopastes and even chocodips!

The cocoa they use is sourced with extreme care and diligent practices from the farms in Ghana, Ivory Coast, and India, ensuring unparalleled quality. Their products are also manufactured under stringent conditions in a highly automated HACCP and FSSC 22000 certified plant, which also happens to be India’s largest throughput facility for B2B chocolates. “Vocal for Local” may have become a trending phrase in the last few months, but the Morde’s are a living example of concept from the time they established their plant. They continue to pay homage to their roots in Manchar by giving over 90% of all on-site employment to locals, enabling a circle of trust, responsibility and more importantly, mobility.

We are sure Morde chocolates in its varied avatars has come to the rescue of many upcoming Master Chefs that have blossomed during this lockdown period, and made its way into the hearts of many Indian households. Their chocolate is not only the preferred ingredient of individuals, but also in consumer products manufactured by Parle, Britannia, ITC, HUL, TajGroup, Marriott, Oberoi, Monginis, Belgian Waffles, to name a few.

While we don’t really need reasons to love chocolates, in recent years research has shown that chocolates can help in reducing stress and relaxing. They also have aphrodisiac properties. They increase serotonin and endorphin levels in the brain and dark chocolates having about 70% cocoa are packed with antioxidants.

Harshal Morde, Director, Morde Foods Pvt. Ltd. says, “For us, it’s been 37 years of serving world class chocolates. Even in this current homebound situation, chocolate is the magic ingredient that has brought engagement & joy to every household.

So next time you need a break from life’s ups and downs, or feel the need to relax, or just want to indulge your sweet tooth, or pamper yourself; pause and have a chocolatey Morde moment.
