Our Sale is up by 40-50 percent Due to Ramzan -Girish Pai
Referring to the subject line, ice cream manufacturers now seem to channelize their summer sales of sweetened treats via online delivery. Opting to keep the business afloat, the manufacturers are not crying over the spilled milk. They have in fact made the bubble break and appeared on e-commerce platform to cater to the tastebuds of their valuable consumers.
Speaking to Girish Pai from Naturals Ice cream, Mumbai, he replied, “We have a tie-up with the aggregators such as Swiggy and Zomato just because of that we are able to earn something. As compared to the previous year at least in this season we have a way to earn and are able to run our business”.
“The logistic, the infrastructure is the issues in India, I think, that is the reason due to which we are not able to make good sales during the pandemic. Also, as the ice cream is not taken under essential commodity that is why we are not able to take out our reefer trucks.
“At the start of the year, the sales were normal, but in February it shot up from 20 per cent to 40 per cent. At present, the sales are steady, not too high nor low. In fact, if we talk about it within 2 days it has been increased by more than 50%, in lockdown situation everyone would like to chill at home and have ice cream”.
Further on Pai added, “Ramzaan is one of the main factors for the sale of ice creams, due to summer fasting people want to have something cool and milky”.
“We have a tie-up with the company called ‘Thrive’. If we have to pay some extra on deliveries then too it’s worth it. If you are ordering through ‘Thrive’ it is organic means itsB2C. In Swiggy and Zomato you will find there are a lot of options but in ‘Thrive’ only Naturals is there”, informed Pai.
In comparison with last March to this March, the sales were ‘Nil‘in last year, but this year we have registered about 10% of sales. Probably we are into Swiggy, Zomato but when customers come inside the shop, we just them to place the order through “Thrive”.
