Everything You Need to Know About Ali Hussain SheermalThis establishment began as “Mohammadu’s Jaanashin” in 1830 and is today regarded as Lucknow’s oldest sheermal stop, giving this bread its genuine reputation. The store is currently operated by the 6th generation of this family, and the employees have also been with the company for decades.
Legend has it that during the reign of Nasiruddin Haider in Lucknow, a man named Mahmood operated a tiny eatery at Firangi Mahal where nihari was the main attraction. He supposedly invented a new type of paratha to pair with a bowl of nihari, which became known as Sheermal.
