Amul, too, rushed to Twitter and Instagram to pay tribute to the late cricketer Andrew Symonds, who died in a vehicle accident on 14th May 2022.
Andrew Symonds, a former Australian all-rounder, died in a vehicle accident on Saturday. According to reports, the 46-year-old player died after his car ran off the road in the Townsville area of Queensland, Australia. Symonds’ death comes months after the deaths of fellow players Shane Warne and Rod Marsh. The horrific occurrence has shocked the athletic world and cricket fans worldwide, with tributes flooding in from all around the world.
Amul, a popular FMGC brand, also paid tribute to the late cricketer, who was affectionately known as ‘Roy’ by his colleagues.
Amul recently turned to Twitter and Instagram to publish a message about Andrew Symonds in his all-rounder avatar. In the videos that are being circulated, one can see Symonds striking three classic postures while batting, bowling, and fielding. The text says, “He symbolised the game… Andrew Symonds 1975-2022.” Along with the black-and-white photo, Amul commented, “# Amul Topical: Tribute to the flamboyant Australian all-rounder…”
Amul’s post received over 78k likes on Instagram and over 4200 likes on Twitter. People commented on the post as well, offering their respects to the late player. “Rest easy, Legend,” one person said. “Om Shanti,” another individual wrote. “RIP Roy,” read another message.
This isn’t the first time Amul has discussed an emotive, monochrome issue on social media. Previously, after the death of famous vocalist Lata Mangeshkar in February 2022, the company paid tribute to her with a black-and-white doodle. The doodle depicted her at various phases of her life, with the message “Hum jahan jahan challenge, aapka saaya saath hoga.” This caption was inspired by the legendary song ‘Tu Jahan Jahan Chalega, Mera Saaya Saath Hoga’ from the 1966 film ‘Mera Saaya’ by the late Lata Mangeshkar. Later, on a different subject, Amul paid respect to senior industrialist Rahul Bajaj (of the Bajaj Group), who died on February 12, 2022. “Hamara Bajaj, mera, uska, unka, inka…” The post was captioned by Amul. “# Amul Topical: Tribute to one of India’s most vibrant and revered businesspeople,” the brand added.
