Compass Group India to Double Business Every Three Years, Eyes Acquisitions for Growth

Compass Group India, a subsidiary of the British multinational Compass Group PLC, plans to double its business every three years, according to Managing Director Vikas Chawla. The company is focusing on the manufacturing, education, and healthcare sectors as key areas for expansion and is actively scouting for acquisition opportunities to fuel its growth.

Chawla revealed that Compass Group India, which recently acquired ICS Foods, is open to further acquisitions as part of its strategy to broaden its market presence. “If we expand at a rate of over 20%, we aim to double our business every three years, positioning us as a major player in both India and within Compass Group globally,” Chawla stated.

The company currently serves around 600,000 meals daily and operates across 450 client locations. Its goal is to increase this number to over two million meals per day across 600 client locations within the next three years, reinforcing its leadership in the food and support services sector.

With India’s growing economy, Compass Group India sees significant opportunities, driven by initiatives like ‘Make in India.’ Chawla anticipates a “ten-fold increase” in offerings over the next five to seven years. He also highlighted the potential for the company to climb into the top five markets for Compass Group globally, from its current position in the top ten.

Strategic acquisitions will play a vital role in Compass Group India’s growth. Chawla expects 25–30% of the company’s growth next fiscal year to come from these acquisitions, aligning with the company’s expansion into key markets and evolving client demands.

Compass Group is currently present in 45 cities across India, with plans to focus on larger markets such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Delhi, while considering expansion into other cities based on opportunistic growth rather than deep market penetration.

As Compass Group continues to grow, the company remains committed to food safety and high standards, particularly in sectors like healthcare, education, and corporate catering, where demand for better quality food and services is on the rise.
