Swiggy Launches ‘Seal’ Programme to Elevate Food Hygiene Standards across India

Food delivery giant Swiggy has introduced the ‘Seal’ programme, a new initiative aimed at enhancing hygiene and food quality among its restaurant partners. Currently live in Pune, the programme will expand nationwide in November, covering over 650 cities, according to a company statement.

The ‘Seal’ programme provides restaurant partners with verified customer feedback focusing on contamination prevention, optimal cooking practices, and packaging quality. Swiggy will offer support through hygiene audits, reports, and educational webinars conducted by dedicated account managers, helping restaurants maintain top hygiene standards.

“Completing a decade in food delivery, Swiggy believes that clean, hygienic food is as essential as taste. The Swiggy Seal provides customers with confidence, knowing their orders meet high-quality standards while offering restaurants actionable insights to enhance their practices,” said Deepak Maloo, Head of Customer and Restaurant Experience at Swiggy Food.

Swiggy has partnered with FSSAI-accredited agencies like Eurofins and Equinox to conduct professional hygiene audits at exclusive rates, aiming to strengthen food handling and cleanliness standards. This development aligns with Swiggy’s recent expansions, including Swiggy Bolt for 10-minute delivery in six cities, Swiggy XL EV fleet for bulk orders in Gurugram, and the piloting of a premium membership program, Rare Club, with annual fees starting from INR 50,000.

The launch of the ‘Seal’ programme comes as Swiggy recently increased its platform fee to INR 10 from INR 7 per order. Financially, Swiggy reported revenue of INR 11,247 Cr for FY24, with its food delivery business generating a GOV of INR 24,717 Cr, while narrowing losses by 44% to INR 2,350 Cr.
