Tea Avenue, Sri Lanka’s most celebrated homegrown tea café chain, is making its much-anticipated debut in India through a strategic partnership with FranGlobal, the international business arm of Franchise India Group. The alliance signals a fresh wave of curated global beverage experiences tailored for the evolving Indian consumer.
“India has a deep cultural love affair with tea, and Tea Avenue is more than just a café—it’s a sensorial journey steeped in heritage,” said Gaurav Marya, chairman, Franchise India Group. “This collaboration is about delivering authenticity and innovation while creating modern tea experiences that feel both personal and premium. We are excited to introduce this admired global brand to India at a time when demand for artisanal, high-quality F&B formats is soaring.”
Under the Franchise-Owned, Franchise-Operated (FOFO) model, Tea Avenue plans to expand aggressively, targeting Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru in the first phase. The brand’s flexible formats—ranging from full cafés and mini cafés to hotel tea corners and kiosks—aim to suit varied investor goals and consumer touchpoints. Expansion across other metropolitan hubs is scheduled within the next 12 to 18 months.
For Sajeev De Silva, founder of Tea Avenue, the Indian launch is a long-cherished vision. “India has always been a dream destination for us. There’s a unique emotional and cultural alignment between Sri Lanka and India when it comes to tea. With FranGlobal’s expertise and reach, we are confident Tea Avenue will find its second home here and foster lasting connections with Indian tea lovers.”
With this entry, Tea Avenue is not just offering a cup of tea—it is bringing an immersive lifestyle experience, where heritage meets modernity, and every sip tells a story.
