GEA Introduces KOB High-Pressure Homogeniser Series for Compact and Cost-Efficient Processing

GEA has launched its new KOB high-pressure homogeniser series, designed to offer industrial-grade homogenisation performance to small and medium production plants at a more accessible investment level. The complete range includes KOB models 11, 22, 45 and 90, with operating pressures reaching up to 400 bar.

The new series has been developed for a wide range of applications across food, beverage, chemical and personal care industries. It is also suitable for homogenising and feeding spray dryers. With its compact footprint, hygienic design and flexible configuration, the KOB range is aimed at both new production lines and existing plants looking to replace older homogenisers without major layout changes.

At the heart of the series is a robust high-pressure design that supports stable and efficient homogenisation, even for moderately viscous and abrasive products. The base configuration uses cost-effective wear-resistant parts for standard applications, while optional high-wear-resistant materials are available for more demanding formulations. Higher-efficiency homogenising valve technology can also be selected depending on process requirements.

The machines feature an optimised crankcase and gear-reducer design, which improves mechanical efficiency while reducing heat, noise and vibration. Since the drive compartment does not require oil cooling or forced-air ventilation, the homogenisers need fewer auxiliary components, helping lower installation, energy and maintenance requirements.

GEA has also introduced a newly engineered frame and cladding to improve durability and vibration control. Poppet-type pumping valves further enhance flow stability, reduce cavitation and noise, and support longer component life.

The KOB series is available with CIP and SIP capabilities and can be configured to meet 3-A sanitary standards. Steamable full-stroke barrier chambers support aseptic product handling, while pressure gauges and transmitters can be added for process automation and control.

The range is suitable for milk, dairy ingredients, beverages, plant-based formulations, and selected chemical, personal care and cosmetic products in manual, semi-automatic and fully automated production lines.
