India to Host Global Dairy Industry at 2027 World Dairy Summit in Mumbai

India is set to become the global meeting point for the dairy industry in November 2027, when the country hosts the International Dairy Federation (IDF) World Dairy Summit at Mumbai’s Jio World Convention Centre.

Scheduled for November 16–19, 2027, the summit is expected to bring together more than 1,500 participants, including policymakers, dairy farmers, cooperatives, processors, researchers, financial institutions, startups and technology companies from across the world.

The hosting agreement was formally exchanged in New Delhi on February 12, 2026, by National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) Chairman Meenesh Shah and IDF Director General Laurence Rycken during the Indian Dairy Association’s 52nd Dairy Industry Conference. The event was attended by Union Minister for Food Processing Industries Chirag Paswan and Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying SP Singh Baghel.

The summit will be organised by the Indian National Committee of the IDF and will feature meetings of the federation’s board and general assembly, alongside sessions of its technical committees. Discussions are expected to focus on the dairy sector’s global outlook, technological developments, policy challenges and strategic priorities.

India’s selection as host was approved by IDF members at the federation’s 118th General Assembly in Paris in October 2024. The country previously hosted the World Dairy Summit in the Delhi-NCR region in 2022, an event inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

As the IDF’s flagship annual gathering, the World Dairy Summit provides a platform for stakeholders across the dairy value chain to exchange ideas and address issues shaping the industry. The federation, founded in 1903, represents around 40 member countries and works on scientific, technical and policy matters affecting the global dairy sector.

With India among the world’s major dairy-producing nations, the 2027 summit is expected to put the country’s dairy ecosystem, from cooperatives and farmers to food technology and processing, in the international spotlight.
