Kothari Industrial Corporation Ltd (KICL), part of the DC Kothari group, has entered the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector with the launch of Chusip, a beverage brand built on tender coconut water. The company announced the move on Thursday.
Chusip is priced at Rs 50 for a 200 ml pack. KICL plans to add a wider range of flavours and will initially sell through traditional retail channels across southern India. It also intends to expand to other regions, enter international markets and list the products on e-commerce platforms.
Jinnah Rafiq Ahamed, executive director of KICL, described the launch as the first step towards a portfolio centred on “nature, health and trust”. He said the company’s research points to Indian consumers increasingly choosing healthy, natural and authentic products.
“We strongly believe this is the right time to bring back the purity of nature in the form of coconut water sourced from the finest coconut farms,” Ahamed said. He added that KICL aims to build a Rs 2,500 crore beverage business by 2035.
