Adani Agri Fresh Announces ₹85/kg Starting Price for Himachal Apples, Launches Digital Mandi

Adani Agri Fresh Limited (AAFL) has kicked off its 2025 apple procurement season in Himachal Pradesh, setting the starting price for premium Large-Medium-Small (LMS) grade apples at ₹85 per kilogram, ₹5 higher than last year.

Procurement will begin on August 24 at AAFL facilities in Rohru, Rampur, and Tutu-Pani, followed by Sainj and Jarol-Tikkar on August 25, and Reckong-Peo on August 28.

An AAFL spokesperson said, “We are pleased to start this year’s procurement at ₹85 for LMS-grade premium apples, ensuring fair returns for farmers while maintaining quality standards.”

Himachal Pradesh, with over 1 lakh hectares under apple cultivation, produces around 5.5 lakh metric tons annually, contributing more than ₹5,500 crore to the state economy. AAFL currently handles nearly 8% of the state’s apple production, a share expected to grow with its digital mandi initiative.

In July 2025, the company launched India’s first digital apple market platform at Bithal near Rampur, directly connecting growers with buyers. Farmers say that this initiative, combined with higher procurement prices, will reduce their reliance on middlemen, bring price transparency, and improve their earnings.

The apple season in Himachal peaks between late August and October, with the opening price of AAFL likely to set a benchmark for wholesale mandis, prompting expectations of a strong upward movement in market rates this season.
