AllFresh Supply Chain Management Pvt. Ltd, a subsidiary of WayCool Enterprise, has made significant strides in the Indian fresh produce industry. They’ve introduced an innovative waxing process for oranges, becoming the first company in India to do so. This pioneering technique extends the shelf life of oranges from the conventional 7-10 days to an impressive 20 days. The wax used in the process is easily washable with plain water, ensuring consumer safety.
The company currently operates two packhouses equipped with state-of-the-art waxing and sorting machines for oranges. These facilities have a daily capacity to handle up to 50 tonnes of fruit. In the near future, AllFresh plans to expand its operations to handle 100-200 tonnes per day, with the possibility of exporting to other countries.
Located in the Amravati district of Maharashtra, AllFresh’s Jarud facility is at the forefront of this innovative approach. Their CEO, Naresh Jawa, explains that this revolutionary waxing process has not only increased the shelf life of oranges but has also opened up opportunities for long-term export ventures.
AllFresh has fostered close relationships with approximately 400 farmers, who supply their produce to the company. Notably, the company provides farmers with their rates one day prior to closing a deal, allowing them to make informed, profitable decisions.
The journey hasn’t been without its challenges. AllFresh faced disruptions, including those caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, seasonal production variations, post-harvest losses, and quality assurance concerns have presented obstacles. Nevertheless, the company has managed to navigate these challenges and maintain satisfactory performance.
One of AllFresh’s remarkable achievements is the significant reduction in wastage, moisture loss, and dumping through intelligent sorting, grading, waxing, and packing. This has not only benefited farmers by providing better returns but also ensures that consumers have access to superior-quality produce at affordable rates.
AllFresh primarily serves regions far and wide in India, such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Pune, where the retail sector is booming. In a market characterized by fierce competition, both domestically and internationally, AllFresh’s unique approach sets it apart.
With their dedication to innovation and quality, AllFresh is poised for a promising future. Their efforts to extend the shelf life of oranges and minimize wastage benefit both farmers and consumers, making a significant impact on the fresh produce industry in India.
