Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets dairy products under the Amul brand, has announced a sweeping reduction in prices across more than 700 product packs, effective September 22. The move comes as the cooperative giant passes on the benefits of the recent GST rate cut to consumers.
Key staples such as ghee, butter, cheese, paneer, ice cream, chocolates, and bakery items are among the categories witnessing price drops. Ghee prices have been cut by ₹40, bringing the new retail price to ₹610 per litre. The MRP of Amul butter (100 gm) has been reduced to ₹58 from ₹62, while the 1 kg processed cheese block will now cost ₹545, down by ₹30. Frozen paneer (200 gm) will retail at ₹95, against ₹99 earlier.
“Amul believes this reduction in prices will spur consumption of a wide range of dairy products, particularly ice cream, cheese, and butter, as per capita consumption remains very low in India, creating a large growth opportunity,” GCMMF said in a statement.
The cooperative has already informed its distributors, Amul parlours, and retailers about the new price structure to ensure a smooth transition from September 22.
GCMMF, owned by 36 lakh farmers, recorded an 11% jump in revenue to ₹65,911 crore in FY25, while the total Amul brand revenue touched nearly ₹90,000 crore. The federation expects the price cuts to further boost demand and strengthen growth across categories.
