Amul to Deepen Footprint in Israel, Plans Multi-Product Dairy Exports and Kosher-Certified Range

Amul is gearing up for a significant expansion in Israel as it prepares to widen its dairy export portfolio beyond ghee. The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which markets products under the Amul brand, aims to cater not only to the Indian diaspora but also to the mainstream Israeli consumer base.

GCMMF Managing Director Jayen Mehta, part of a 60-member business delegation accompanying Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, said the cooperative is now working toward securing Kosher certification—an essential requirement for food products to be sold widely in Israel. “We are exporting ghee here but will soon expand to multiple other products that can enter the mainstream market,” Mehta told PTI.

He explained that Kosher certification involves compliance with religious dietary guidelines under Jewish law and is crucial for accessing the core local market. Amul is currently aligning its production processes to meet these standards.

Mehta added that India, the world’s largest milk producer, is exploring technological collaboration with Israel to enhance cattle productivity. He noted that Israel’s advancements in animal feeding, management systems, and arid-region agriculture could significantly boost India’s dairy efficiency.
