Micro businesses will be given assistance in order to increase the quality of their food goods and become more competitive.
Micro-level food processing unit food handlers will receive training on proper hygiene and manufacturing procedures, food testing techniques, and other regulatory needs.
On October 2nd, 2021, the FSSAI and the Ministry of Food Processing Industries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support micro food entrepreneurs, farmer-producer organisations (FPOs), self-help groups (SHGs), and producer’s cooperatives in improving food business standards.
The step, which is part of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyaan, would assist micro businesses in improving the quality of their food goods and becoming more competitive.
FSSAI and MoFPI will collaborate in two areas, according to a statement from the apex food regulator.
Food handlers at micro food processing units will receive training on good hygiene and manufacturing procedures, food testing processes, and other regulatory needs, according to the government. Food handlers will receive a ‘Food Safety Supervisor’ certificate from the FSSAI after successfully completing the training.
The FSSAI and the MoFPI would also assist small businesses in obtaining FSSAI licences and registration, according to the report statement.
