Arunachal Governor Calls for Stronger Branding and Market Expansion in Tea Industry

Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K T Parnaik has emphasized the need for organic tea cultivation, branding, and market expansion to boost the state’s tea industry. Addressing small tea growers at Raj Bhavan on Saturday, he highlighted the sustainability and growing global demand for organic tea and urged farmers to adopt natural farming practices that align with eco-conscious consumer trends.

The governor outlined key strategies to strengthen the tea industry’s presence, advising growers to leverage both traditional and digital marketing. He stressed the importance of developing a strong brand identity, incorporating an attractive logo, eco-friendly packaging, and a compelling tagline that showcases their commitment to organic and sustainable farming.

Parnaik encouraged tea producers to share their farm’s journey, cultivation techniques, and sustainability efforts through social media and product packaging. He recommended setting up a professional website with e-commerce integration to facilitate direct sales and reach a broader consumer base.

Additionally, he urged tea growers to participate in national and international trade fairs to connect with buyers and expand their market reach. He assured them that the state government would provide full support, including marketing assistance, as long as they adhered to quality standards, maintained high production levels, and continued adopting sustainable farming practices.

During the meeting, Small Tea Growers’ Association President Tadak Gab and tea grower Marpu Baja highlighted challenges faced by the tea industry in Arunachal Pradesh, including logistical issues and market competition. Parnaik reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to positioning Arunachal Pradesh as a key player in the organic tea sector and pledged to address industry concerns.
