Mondelez India has expanded its premium dark chocolate portfolio with the launch of two new Cadbury Bournville variants in India, tapping into rising consumer demand for differentiated and indulgent chocolate experiences.
The company has rolled out Bournville 50% Dark Chocolate with Orange and Bournville 70% Dark Chocolate with Orange, pairing rich cocoa with citrus notes. The launch marks Bournville’s first 70% dark chocolate with orange in the Indian market, while the 50% variant is positioned as a more accessible option for consumers exploring the dark chocolate segment.
The portfolio expansion comes amid steady premiumisation in India’s dark chocolate category, driven by evolving taste preferences, greater awareness of cocoa intensity and increasing interest in global flavour combinations. Mondelez India said the new offerings underscore its focus on innovation-led growth within the premium snacking space.
Commenting on the launch, Nitin Saini, vice president – marketing, Mondelez India, said that since introducing dark chocolate to India in 2009, Bournville has played a pivotal role in shaping the category. He noted that as consumer palates mature, demand is growing for distinct cocoa percentages and refined flavour pairings. The orange variants, he said, blend Bournville’s signature cocoa richness with the vibrancy of citrus for a more elevated indulgence.
The Bournville 50% dark chocolate with orange delivers a smoother taste with moderate cocoa intensity and a hint of orange, while the 70% variant targets seasoned dark chocolate consumers seeking a deeper cocoa profile balanced by subtle citrus notes.
The new Cadbury Bournville orange variants are now available across key retail outlets and leading e-commerce platforms in India, further strengthening Mondelez India’s presence in the premium chocolate segment.
