To strengthen its presence in eastern India, Reliance Consumer Products Ltd (RCPL), the FMCG arm of Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries, has announced a major investment of ₹1,000 crore for setting up a new Campa Cola bottling and manufacturing plant in Bihar’s Begusarai district.
The upcoming facility, spread over 35 acres, will be developed by EPIC Agro Product Ltd., the official manufacturer and distributor of the Campa Cola brand. The Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) confirmed the land allotment via a post on X (formerly Twitter), marking a significant step in the brand’s aggressive expansion strategy.
This initiative follows the inauguration of a similar plant in Guwahati, Assam, just two months ago, underlining Campa Cola’s intent to dominate the eastern and northeastern beverage markets. The Bihar plant is expected to serve as a crucial hub in enhancing the company’s supply chain, logistics, and bottling capabilities in the region.
Campa Cola, which re-entered the Indian soft drink segment in August 2022 after Reliance acquired the nostalgic brand, has since taken bold steps to challenge market leaders like Coca-Cola and PepsiCo. Known for its competitive pricing and better retail margins, the brand has triggered price corrections in select markets where it operates.
Industry analysts view this move as part of a broader national strategy. “Campa’s investment in Bihar shows that RCPL is focused on building a robust pan-India presence,” said Abneesh Roy, Executive Director, Research, Nuvama Institutional Equities. “These developments are early indicators of the brand’s long-term ambition.”
Coca-Cola’s growing portfolio now includes cola, orange, lemon, energy drinks, and fruit-based beverages under sub-brands like Raskik and Spinner. The company has also made its international foray, with products now available in the UAE and plans to expand into other parts of Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
This is Bihar’s second major beverage industry investment in recent months. In March, SLMG Beverages—the country’s largest Coca-Cola bottler—announced a ₹1,500 crore plant in Buxar and hinted at further expansion in the state.
With strong backing from Reliance and a clear expansion roadmap, Campa Cola seems poised to emerge as a formidable player in India’s rapidly evolving beverage market.
