The Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) held the 13th CII Food Safety Awards Ceremony, which was set on identifying the best food business operators for food safety excellence.
A total of eleven sectors, including beverages, dairy products, fats & oils, health supplements and nutraceuticals, food testing laboratories, meat & meat products, Ready to Cook (RTC), Ready to Eat (RTE), coffee, and tea, qualified for the Awards for Outstanding Performance in Food Safety 2022.
About 130 CII-qualified assessors from a pool of 700+ assessors participated in the award assessments, which were nearly completed this year. The Award tracks a stringent floor-stage evaluation methodology consisting of technical assessment by trained food professionals, calibration by sector-specific calibrators, subsequent evaluations by the Awards Committee, and a final round of evaluation by a distinguished panel of jurors.
Dr. Chindi Vasudevappa, chair of the jury for the CII Award for Food Safety and vice chancellor of NIFTEM (under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries), was on the jury panel, as was Dr. Nimish Shah, chairperson of the Expert Group on Food Safety and Quality and pre-jury for the CII Award for Food Safety (managing director of IAPMO), and Dr. Kaushik Banerjee, director of the ICAR-National Research Centre for Grapes.
