Creambell merging operations; rumours of closing down entirely wrong

Devyani Foods India Ltd (DFIL) rolls out ice-creams under the brand name of Creambell.

“The company has decided to close one of the smaller facilities at Baddi while strengthening the other larger manufacturing plants. Reports that the ice-cream business is being shutdown are totally false and misleading and vehemently denied,” DFIL said in a statement.

Creambell, had forayed into the ice-cream business in 2003 and compete’s with it rival of big players like HUL’s Kwality Walls and Amul.

DFIL is a subsidiary of diversified group RJ Corp, emphasized that reports claiming that its ice-cream business was shutting down were entirely false and misleading.

Creambell chief executive Bhupendra Suri said: “The Company is in the process of consolidation to serve better products and meet new levels of hygiene standards. In this process, we have decided to close one of our smaller facilities at Baddi while strengthening the other larger plants.”

The Company is expanding its portfolio for the season. Ice cream sales during this season across the country, however, has taken a massive drawback with negligible consumption following the outbreak of Covid-19 and the nationwide lockdown.
