Fafda price rises from Rs. 440 to Rs. 800 per kg, and jalebi prices have risen from Rs. 560 to Rs. 960 per kg
In the city, more than 10,000 fafda-jalebi counters will be set up, with fafda-jalebi pricing ranging from 15 to 20 rupees per piece.
On the festival of Dussehra, it is customary to consume fafda-jalebi. However, fafda-jalebi prices have risen dramatically this year, fafda costs Rs. 440 to Rs. 800 per kg in the city, while pure ghee jalebi costs Rs. 560 to 960.
In Ahmedabad, an estimated 8 lakh kg of fafda-jalebi is consumed on Dussehra. Counters will be placed in various locations across fafda-jalebi beginning on the 8th. This year has been more successful than the previous one.
The recent sharp surge in costs of cingulum oil, ghee, besan, and gas, according to Kamlesh Kandoi, president of the Ahmedabad Sweets and Farsan Association, has resulted in a 15-20% increase in jalebi-fafda pricing compared to last year. Moreover, artisans have increased the cost of labour.
