European Union Showcases Culinary Mastery at SIAL India 2024

The European Union (EU) has made a significant mark in the Indian food and beverage industry with its participation in SIAL India 2024, one of Asia’s premier trade shows. The EU’s ‘More Than Food’ pavilion highlighted the exceptional diversity, quality, and versatility of European products, setting new benchmarks for culinary excellence in India.

Highlights of the ‘More Than Food’ Pavilion

The EU pavilion was designed to showcase the breadth and depth of European culinary offerings. Visitors explored a curated selection of premium products, including:

Chef Ajay Chopra’s Role

Chef Ajay Chopra, the campaign ambassador, inaugurated the pavilion and hosted an exclusive tasting session featuring innovative dishes crafted with premium European ingredients. These creations blended European and Indian culinary traditions, offering a unique gastronomic experience.

·       Chorizo and Mixed Mushroom & Feta Spring Rolls with Paprika Grapes Chutney

Chef Chopra also delivered live cooking demonstrations, captivating the audience by showcasing how European ingredients can harmoniously integrate with Indian flavors.

Panel Discussion: Decoding the Global Indian Platter

As part of the event, Chopra participated in a panel discussion titled ‘Decoding the Global Indian Platter: Spotting Trends, Creating Opportunities.’

He discussed the rising demand for European products in India. Insights were shared on how European culinary offerings are influencing Indian culinary trends and shaping future opportunities.

Pawel Stachowiak, Counsellor – Trade and Economic Affairs, Delegation of the EU to India, highlighted the EU’s commitment to strengthening its culinary and trade relationship with India.

Key Statements:

The EU is India’s largest trading partner, accounting for €124 billion worth of trade in goods in 2023, representing 12.2% of India’s total trade. Through the ‘More Than Food’ campaign, the EU seeks to promote the quality, authenticity, safety, and sustainability of its food and beverage products.

SIAL India 2024 served as an excellent platform to enhance awareness of EU offerings, foster collaborations, and address market challenges.
