Great Year for Food Services Industry as Integration of Tech and Hyperlocal Focus Propel Growth

Reflecting on a transformative year for the food services industry, Riyaaz Amlani, founder and managing director of Impresario Entertainment & Hospitality Pvt. Ltd., emphasizes the sector’s remarkable evolution, riding on India’s growth narrative. Amlani attributes this success to the integration of technology and a hyperlocal community-driven approach, fostering rapid expansion across the hospitality landscape.

In 2023, the hospitality industry witnessed significant growth propelled by the widespread use of social media, increased disposable incomes, and a post-pandemic surge in demand, particularly in tier-2 cities. Amlani notes that the sector has experienced unprecedented growth, with Impresario Entertainment & Hospitality operating over 60 outlets across India, including popular brands such as SOCIAL, Smoke House Deli, antiSOCIAL, and boutique concepts like Slink & Bardot and Prithvi Café.

A notable milestone for the company was the recent opening of the 50th SOCIAL outlet in HITEC City, Hyderabad, marking the conclusion of 2023 on a high note. The flagship ventures, Smoke House Deli and BOSS Burger, have also expanded to newer regions. Amlani’s commitment to innovation is evident in the introduction of new concepts like Bandra Born, described as a ‘culinary playground’ for experimentation, and boutique brands catering to niche audiences.

Amlani underscores the company’s dedication to learning, evolving, and leading industry trends, driven by an ‘India first’ ideology. The SOCIAL brand, positioned at the confluence of a café and a bar, serves as a trailblazer for Impresario Entertainment & Hospitality, fostering connections, collaborations, and the creation of lasting memories. With a strategic plan for the next 50 SOCIAL outlets, the company aims to open 15-20 outlets annually, deepening its presence in existing markets and exploring new ones.

In addressing the evolving demographic landscape of India, Amlani points out that the country boasts the world’s largest working population, with a median age of 28. Catering to the preferences of these young, globally exposed individuals, Impresario Entertainment & Hospitality remains focused on innovation and adaptation. Amlani expresses optimism about India’s consumption story, leveraging the current demographic dividend to continue meeting the dynamic needs of the market.
