Greece is in talks with BL Agro to take on agricultural technology

The Greek government has initiated discussions with the renowned FMCG company, BL Agro, to form strategic alliances in agricultural technology, skill exchange, bolstering agricultural trade, advancing animal sciences, and combating climate change.

The Greek Republic’s Minister of Rural Development & Food, Eleftherious Avgenakis, expressed the government’s eagerness to strengthen trade relations with India. He also emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation in the domains of agriculture and animal sciences, with the overarching goal of benefiting the entire farming value chain in both India and Greece through this strategic partnership.

Navneet Ravikar, Chairman & Managing Director of Leads Connect Services, a subsidiary of BL Agro, conveyed the positive outcome of discussions with the Greek minister. He highlighted the focus of the talks on implementing BL Agro’s technology in Greece and the minister’s strong interest in acquiring skilled manpower, advanced agricultural technology, and strategies for climate change mitigation. Furthermore, the dialogue also revolved around India’s potential assistance in enhancing Greece’s agricultural and veterinary institutions.

Ravikar went on to reveal plans for the exchange of products between the two nations. BL Agro aims to import items like feta cheese, olive oil, and wine from Greece while exporting high-quality millets, basmati rice, spices, and various other agricultural products from India, thereby fostering bilateral trade.

In an additional development, BL Agro’s subsidiary, Leads Connect, has joined forces with JOIST Innovation Park, a Greek startup incubator firm, to channel investment into India for tech startups. They are actively working towards bringing Greek expertise in agri-tech to India, with a forthcoming agreement to solidify this exciting venture. This collaboration holds the potential to significantly enhance the technological landscape in both countries and foster innovation in the agriculture sector.
