Iconic Karachi Bakery shuts shop in Mumbai

The famous Karachi Bakery in Mumbai has shut down due to financial losses. But an MNS leader has claimed that the bakery shut shop after their protest and threats.

A month ago, MNS led a huge protest at the Karachi Bakery outlet in Bandra West. MNS demanded that the name of the bakery is Karachi.

Karachi Bakery was one of the oldest and famous bakeries in Mumbai. The outlet is part of the famous Hyderabad-based chain, whose owner had migrated from Karachi after the Partition. However, as their roots are from Karachi, they opened the shop and named it after Karachi.

A very close family friend of the Karachi Bakery owner said, “Karachi Bakery owners were facing huge financial losses. Also, during the lockdown, the losses increased even more. The rent in Bandra West where the bakery was located was also very high, which the owners could not afford.”

They were spending more than the profit.  And now the workers of the bakery are out of job. This has nothing to do with the MNS protest. Even after the protests, they were never going to change the name of the shop. It is just because of financial issues they have shut Karachi Bakery.
