India’s own Momo chain – Wow! Momos is foraying into ready-to-use food category, by bringing in the frozen ready-to-eat Momo category products like veg Darjeeling momos, chicken Darjeeling. The all-new category of ready-to-make frozen momos will be wholly available online on across 10 cities: Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad.
Sagar Daryani, Co-founder and CEO of Wow! Momo, stated that their success in QSR business has taught them to be close to consumer; and foraying into FMCG is to take this bond one step ahead. “We want to be a part of every grocery order in the country — we want to be the food for all times; that’s with you all the time, he added.”
According to him, Wow! Momos Made At Home is just the beginning. Wow! Momo ready-to eat is poised to replace all kinds of instant food in the future. It aims to expand to multiple categories such as sauces, snacks and much more. “Focused on getting the QSR Speed and innovation and marrying it with the magic of FMCG is all that is required,” said Daryani.
BigBasket is a partner with Wow! Momos. “Our aim has always been to bring quality products to our consumers and we look forward to a long-term association with them, said Hari Menon, co-founder and CEO, BigBasket.” The company has said that the brand will soon be available across all leading modern trade and in the soon to be live with its own delivery mechanism.
According to a report by Research and Markets, India’s frozen food market was valued at Rs 9,800 crore in 2020 and is expected to reach Rs 22,400 crore by 2025.
The ready-to-eat category of foods is picking up in a major way especially with people spending more time at home due to the pandemic.
