How has Carry Well Packaging modified its packaging solutions to meet the growing need for sustainable and eco-friendly packaging?
Development of new products, along with upgradation and capacity expansion for manufacturing of existing products, is the key to catering to the growing need for sustainable and eco-friendly packaging and has always been our key focus area. While we develop any product for our customers, we focus on their purpose, needs, and specific requirements. For developing sustainable, eco-friendly packaging, we choose our suppliers and raw materials very carefully. RM and consumables we choose are compliant with respect to various parameters relevant to sustainability, eco friendliness & legal requirements. In parallel, we also focus on keeping a balance between the quality of packaging offered to customers vs. its cost to the customer so that the use of eco-friendly packaging material is viable for him and the purpose of developing sustainable packaging is not defeated.
Back in 2014, when the market had just started shifting towards sustainable and eco-friendly packaging, one of the biggest challenges was replacing plastic containers with paper containers for packing hot curries and food items. The raw material that could sustain the temperature, oil content, and water content of the Indian curries was not available. Our company worked very closely with one of the most renowned paper mills in India. After a series of trials from time to time, a suitable paper board was developed as sustainable, economically viable, eco-friendly, and suitable for food contact applications. Paper board is now widely used as a basic raw material for paper containers.
Can you share any examples of unique packaging solutions produced by Carry Well Packaging that have helped customers improve their experience of their products?
We have developed several unique packaging solutions for our clients, exceeding their expectations and satisfaction levels. This has helped our customers improve the experience of their end consumers carrying or consuming their products.
One of the examples is developing 3-dimensional food-grade, oil- and grease-resistant parchment paper envelopes and wrapping sheets. We call it a 3D food-grade product as the Paper used is food-grade; further, the Inks used for printing and pasting adhesives are also certified to be used for food packaging. Not just the oil resistance, but the front and back mirrored printing, separator cutting (toothless edges), and use of water-based food-safe adhesives make it a beautiful product and shoot up its premium covenant. Another important part of this product was that it was available from only a small number of manufacturers and was pushed only through corporate chains. However, we made it available to non-corporate clients as well.
Another product is Thali packaging. Post-single-use plastic ban, thali packaging, serving, and delivery became a major challenge for all food service and delivery chains. After a series of research and hard work, we successfully developed a paper thali suitable for a variety of Chinese, Indian, Continental, and South Indian foods of different portions and sizes. The product was developed so that there should be no spillage during deliveries. It is now widely accepted by a lot of satisfied customers.
