ITC set to invest Rs. 1,500 crores in food manufacturing and packaging plants in MP

ITC has announced a substantial investment of Rs 1,500 crore for the establishment of two major facilities in Sehore, Madhya Pradesh. These facilities encompass an integrated food manufacturing and logistics complex as well as a sustainable packaging product manufacturing unit, covering an expansive area of approximately 57 acres. ITC’s investment is anticipated to catalyse growth in both the agricultural and manufacturing sectors within Madhya Pradesh, as stated in their official announcement.

Upon completion, these two projects will collectively represent an investment of Rs. 1,500 crore, with the aim of bolstering sustainable livelihoods throughout various value chains. The food manufacturing plant will produce a range of ITC’s products, including the popular atta brand Aashirvaad, Sunfeast biscuits, and ‘YiPPee!’ noodles. Simultaneously, the moulded fibre products facility will take the lead in pioneering sustainable packaging solutions, significantly contributing to reducing plastic usage in sectors such as electronics, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), and the food and beverage industry.

ITC views its investment in the food processing sector at the Sehore facility as a significant contributor to the state’s manufacturing sector and the development of inclusive agri-value chains. The company believes that the food processing sector, positioned at the intersection of agriculture, industry, and services, has the potential to make a multi-dimensional impact on the state’s economy by enhancing the overall competitiveness of the food value chain.

Sanjiv Puri, Chairman of ITC, expressed his thoughts on the new investment projects in Sehore, highlighting ITC’s extensive presence in all three key sectors of Madhya Pradesh’s economy—agriculture, manufacturing, and services. In line with their commitment to contribute to the socio-economic growth of the state, ITC is now channelling investments into these two world-class facilities: the Integrated Food Manufacturing and Logistics Facility and the Sustainable Packaging Products Manufacturing Facility in Sehore. Moreover, these facilities are designed to adhere to IGBC Green Building Platinum standards, reinforcing ITC’s dedication to sustainability.
