The Madurai Aavin Milk Agents Association has raised concerns over the recent price hike of Aavin ice creams, stating that it could negatively impact sales, especially during the festive season. Aavin, known for producing over 100 varieties of ice cream across Tamil Nadu, had already increased prices in 2022 and implemented further revisions starting October 1, 2024.
In a statement, the association noted a significant drop in sales following the price revision, although it acknowledged that the hike was necessary to address financial losses faced by Aavin. However, it argued that such price increases should coincide with adjustments in milk prices to avoid putting additional pressure on consumers.
The association expressed concern that the price rise may drive customers toward private ice cream brands, and called for measures to enhance production in Aavin’s ice cream units located in Madurai, Tiruchi, Salem, and Vellore, as current output is insufficient to meet demand.
