Maggi Introduces Edible Fork Made from Wheat Flour

Maggi has launched its Masala Cuppa noodles with an innovative edible fork made from wheat flour, available in major metro cities in May 2024. Priced at Rs.50 for a 79.5 gm pack, this new product aims to provide a sustainable alternative to single-use plastic.

Part of Maggi’s ‘Desh ke liye 2 minute’ initiative, launched in 2020, this edible fork is a collaboration between Nestle R&D India and Indian start-up Trishula. The initiative underscores Maggi’s commitment to environmental responsibility and enhancing the consumer experience.

In early 2023, Maggi also introduced foldable, compostable forks, developed with Nestle’s Institute of Packaging Sciences, Kaneka India, and Nestle India R&D, aiming to reduce plastic use by approximately 35 MT annually.

Rajat Jain, director of foods at Nestle India, highlighted the innovation’s significance, stating, “This edible fork marks a milestone in our commitment to environmental responsibility and showcases our global R&D capabilities.”

Jagdeep Marahar, head of Nestle R&D Centre India, added, “Our global and local packaging expertise allows us to explore sustainable alternatives to plastic. This edible fork is part of our efforts to create innovative and accepted solutions for local consumers.”

The edible forks will be available for a limited period, enhancing the experience of savoruing Maggi Cuppa Noodles while promoting sustainability.
