Marico has forayed into the cold-pressed edible oil category with the launch of Saffola Cold Pressed Oils, aiming to bolster its health-focused product portfolio amid growing consumer demand for clean-label and nutrient-rich foods.
The new range, comprising both single and dual-seed variants, is designed to deliver functional health benefits and align with the rising preference for natural, unrefined oils. The launch underscores Marico’s strategy to tap into the premium health and wellness space, driven by its flagship Saffola brand.
Ashish Goupal, CEO – India Core Business at Marico, said the move marks a strategic expansion in response to evolving consumer preferences. “The cold-pressed oils category is gaining momentum in India. Increasing awareness about the nutritional value of such oils indicates that household penetration and category competition will both rise shortly,” he noted.
Marico is rolling out the new products initially through quick commerce platforms and digital-first channels, targeting health-aware and digitally engaged consumers. “Digital-first platforms support faster adoption, trials, and visibility—especially important for premium offerings,” Goupal added.
While the company is not focused on immediate scale, it views the launch as a long-term portfolio play. In the first year, Marico plans to build awareness, encourage product trials, and establish a strong presence in key urban markets. The performance of the cold-pressed oils will be closely monitored to inform future scaling efforts.
With the Indian cold-pressed oil market poised for growth, Marico’s latest move reinforces its commitment to innovation in health and wellness, leveraging the Saffola brand’s equity in heart-healthy and functional food segments.
