To broaden its accessibility and reach, McDonald’s North and East has partnered with ONDC (Open Network for Digital Commerce) to offer exclusive products. This collaboration not only aims to provide customers with more options but also supports small-scale operators, including street food vendors.
Under this partnership, McDonald’s India North and East products will be available on ONDC buyers’ applications, featuring exclusive à la carte and meal options. Rajeev Ranjan, managing director of McDonald’s India—North and East, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating that it’s geared towards making McDonald’s more accessible to both existing and new customers.
This move marks McDonald’s as the second major fast-food chain to join ONDC, following in the footsteps of Domino’s Pizza, operated by Jubilant FoodWorks Ltd. (JFL).
ONDC has seen significant growth since its inception, processing over 7.1 million cumulative orders in February alone. Operating in key markets like Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Chennai, the platform is expanding its services rapidly.
Moreover, ONDC is piloting a project to integrate street food vendors, beginning with Delhi and Lucknow. The initiative aims to collaborate with 500 street food vendors in these cities over the next few months, leveraging buyer applications to boost demand for these small-scale operators. In Delhi, the pilot project has already commenced with the support of Zomato-backed Magicpin.
