In a significant development for the spices industry, a leading spices maker company has announced plans to establish a new manufacturing unit in Ujjain with an investment of Rs. 150 crore. The decision reflects the company’s commitment to expanding its operations and catering to the rising demand for spices.
Rajeev Gulati, Chairman and Managing Director of MDH Spices, disclosed, “We have taken 16 acres in Ujjain and intend to invest almost Rs. 150 crores in the coming 2 years. This will be our third-largest unit, after Faridabad and Nagaur in Rajasthan. Madhya Pradesh happens to be the centre of India, making the procurement and processing of spices convenient. Here, we will be able to produce more due to our advantageous logistical position, facilitating easier distribution across Madhya Pradesh.”
The company has already invested Rs. 5 crores in its existing plant in Indore, indicating its continued commitment to enhancing its manufacturing capabilities.
Gulati emphasized the growing demand for Indian spices, highlighting the potential for exports. He mentioned plans to explore the establishment of an export-oriented unit in the state, indicating the company’s ambition to tap into international markets.
“In addition to catering to domestic demand, we are focusing on innovation and product development. We are introducing new blends tailored for different markets,” added Gulati, underscoring the company’s dedication to enhancing its product portfolio and meeting the evolving needs of consumers both domestically and internationally.
