Mondelēz International and Lotus Bakeries are set to expand their partnership into the ice cream segment. The collaboration involves Froneri, a key Mondelēz partner that manufactures ice cream under license, to produce Biscoff-branded frozen novelties.
Biscoff ice cream, which debuted in 2019, is currently available in the U.S., U.K., and E.U. The new agreement will see Froneri produce, market, and sell Biscoff ice cream in several European countries starting in 2026, with plans for a gradual global rollout.
Last year, Mondelēz and Lotus announced a partnership to develop chocolate products combining Biscoff’s signature caramelized biscuit flavor with Mondelēz’s popular chocolate brands, such as Cadbury and Milka. A Cadbury chocolate bar with Biscoff pieces has already been launched, and a Milka version is expected later this year.
Mondelēz has actively expanded its cookie and chocolate brands into categories such as cakes, pastries, and ice cream. Froneri has held a license to manufacture ice cream products for Mondelēz brands like Oreo, Milka, and Toblerone since 2011.
The ice cream expansion aims to strengthen the partnership between Mondelēz and Lotus, allowing both companies to innovate further. Lotus Bakeries credited the success of Biscoff ice cream in recent years as a key factor driving the decision to expand globally.
Dirk Van de Put, CEO of Mondelēz, previously highlighted Biscoff as a “unique” asset that complements their portfolio. He also indicated that future innovations may involve incorporating Biscoff in more creative ways beyond chocolate fillings.
Lotus CEO Jan Boone stated that the collaboration will enhance Biscoff’s presence in the ice cream sector, positioning it as a global brand. He added that introducing Biscoff flavors to ice cream consumers worldwide will bolster brand awareness and enable Lotus to focus on expanding its cookie and spread offerings internationally.
