The company’s business most recent milk substitute mixes two plant-based products to provide more nutrients
Fava beans have grown in favour among producers of food and beverages in recent years as a viable plant source of protein and amino acids. The legume is a versatile plant that can be grown in colder locations since it naturally releases nitrogen into the soil and is well-adaptable to many conditions. Fava may give a neutral flavour and fragrance when processed properly, making it a desirable component in the culinary sector.
The biggest food and beverage corporation in the world has now included fava beans as its newest plant-based dairy substitute that will be sold in the US. A new addition to Nestlé’s Natural Bliss line of dairy and plant-based goods is oat milk which is strengthened by the addition of fava protein to offer 5g of protein. This is at least twice as much as what rival products like Oatly (1.1g) and Alpro Oat from Danone (0.3g) provide.
We are investigating the use of fava beans in various plant-based substitutes since they are an excellent source of protein, according to Christoph Bolten, director of the Nestlé Institute of Food Sciences.
“While creating the product, we decided on a fava bean kind that would provide the dish the most comprehensive nutritional components.” Nestlé’s new alternative dairy drink provides all the necessary essential amino acids for a diet in addition to 5g of protein per cup. The texture is smooth, and the flavour has been characterised as light and nutty.
Daniel Jhung, president of Nestlé USA’s beverage division, continued, “We know our consumers want products that are both delicious and nourishing, and this offering delivers a first-to-market blend of oat and fava bean protein that offers more protein than the leading oat milk brand, less sugar than dairy milk, and can be enjoyed in a variety of ways at any time of day. We’re excited to debut our first-ever ready-to-drink oat milk as the demand for plant-based beverages grows. “We’re happy to expand our natural joy range beyond the creamer aisle.”
