FMCG major Nestlé India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) to accelerate its investment plans in the country’s food sector. The agreement, formalized during the World Food India Summit, will expedite greenfield and brownfield projects across Odisha and existing manufacturing sites over the next two to three years.
The initiative is part of Nestlé India’s previously announced ₹5,000-crore expansion plan by 2025, which includes setting up its tenth factory in Odisha. The company is also ramping up capacities at existing locations and building new capabilities in Gujarat’s Sanand facility for confectionery, prepared dishes, and cooking aids.
Nestlé India Chairman and Managing Director Manish Tiwary said the partnership would generate direct and indirect employment opportunities, reinforcing the company’s commitment to “India’s growth story.”
India continues to be a strategic market for the Swiss FMCG giant, with MAGGI holding the position of the brand’s largest market globally and the country ranking as the second-largest Out-of-Home business hub for Nestlé in the Asia, Oceania, and Africa zone. In FY25, Nestlé India reported revenues of ₹20,202.56 crore.
