Nestlé India to invest ₹225 crore to expand Munch production at Sanand plant

Nestlé India has announced the expansion of production capacity for its popular chocolate wafer brand Munch by adding a new manufacturing line at its Sanand facility in Gujarat. The expansion will increase output by approximately 8,300 tonnes per year and is expected to be completed by the financial year 2025–26.

The project involves an investment of around ₹225 crore, which will be funded through internal accruals. The company said the move is part of its broader capital expenditure programme aimed at strengthening manufacturing capabilities through both greenfield and brownfield expansions.

According to the company, the additional line at the Sanand factory will help meet rising consumer demand for confectionery products and ensure a stronger supply chain for its growing portfolio. The facility will now join other Nestlé India plants that currently manufacture Munch, one of the company’s key brands in the chocolate wafer segment.

Nestlé India has been steadily increasing investments in capacity expansion across categories as part of its long-term growth strategy in the country. The latest addition is expected to support higher volumes, improve distribution efficiency, and enhance the company’s ability to respond to market demand.

The company has been focusing on scaling up domestic production in recent years to support growth in confectionery, dairy, prepared dishes, and nutrition segments, as demand for packaged foods continues to rise across urban as well as semi-urban markets.
