The Food Industry Capacity and Skill Initiative (FICSI), a sector skill council for food processing announced the launch of its Learning Management System (LMS) under the name ‘FICSI Online Training and Assessment Academy’, with an aim to provide educating the skills of the sector through digital learning specially during the pandemic times.
Dilip Chenoy, secretary-general, FICCI, joined as the chief guest for the launch of the ‘FICSI Online Training and Assessment Academy’ via webinar, in the presence of Dr. C .Vasudevappa, vice-chancellor, NIFTEM, and Akshay Bector, president, FICSI, and CMD, Cremica Food Industries Ltd, as the guests of honour.
This is a digital platform which is web and android based, that has launched a self-paced course on, safe practices for retailers and retail workers handling food and safe practices for micro, small and medium enterprises manufacturing food during COVID-19 outbreak.
The courses involve food safety compliance training to limit contamination risks. These courses will be prepared in association with FSSAI, FICCI, NIFTEM and including various industry partners. The duration of the course completion is 90 minutes, whereby at the end of the couse a certificate will be issued to each participant.
Bector said, “At FICSI, our endeavour is to focus on strengthening each and every sub-sector in the food processing sector and with the launch of FICSI Online Training and Assessment Academy, we aim at building it as a one-stop e-learning solution for the food processing industry. We are constantly developing supporting learning resources to create skilled manpower in the industry. The courses focus on imparting sufficient knowledge around industry preparedness to deal with the Covid-19 situation.”
“Moreover, we continue to seek support from the industry bodies like FSSAI, FICCI & NSDC to keep up with the momentum of learning and building a strong community,” he added.
Sunil Marwah, CEO, FICSI, highlighted on the importance of giving a clear understanding and information to the workers of unorganized retail and manufacturing sector handling food products.
Marwah opines that following these guidelines can help explain the risk of spreading Covid-19 and have consumer’s trust. We emphasize on creating awareness through interactive learning because “Jaanega Bharat toh Safe Rahega Bharat”.
The digital platform will also have NSQF aligned job roles for learners such as baking technician, pickle making technician and jam jelly ketchup processing technician.
The main aim of the course is to make sure that the food processing industry can accelerate its grow to newer heights by educating the people. With this program the industry is bound to leap with skilled manpower which in turn will increase productivity and result in profitability with overall performance.
