Syngenta and PepsiCo Partner to Reward Farmers Adopting Regenerative Practices

Syngenta and PepsiCo have joined forces to promote regenerative and traceable agriculture through Syngenta’s Sustainable Sourcing Program, offering financial incentives to farmers adopting these practices.

In the program’s first year in Argentina, Syngenta supplied PepsiCo with 4,000 tons of sunflower oil produced using verified regenerative agriculture methods. Participating farmers across Buenos Aires, La Pampa, San Luis, and Santa Fe provinces received 1-2% higher prices for their sunflower grain compared to domestic market rates.

The initiative is set to expand, with a targeted 25% increase in hectares implementing regenerative practices in the next phase. These methods include crop rotation, cover crops, efficient irrigation, use of biological products, and pollinator habitat development. Syngenta offers constant support and monitoring, ensuring compliance through third-party validation.

Syngenta’s Cropwise digital platform is key in tracking these sustainable practices, enabling farmers to measure, verify, and improve their efforts. The sunflower oil commercialization is conducted through Syngenta’s Agriculture Value Chain (AVC) program, facilitating efficient trade and export.

PepsiCo’s Southern Cone region is the first in LATAM to achieve 100% regenerative agriculture in its sunflower supply chain under this partnership. The collaboration reflects both companies’ commitment to sustainable food production and environmental responsibility.
