The famous Haldiram of Nagpur, takes a shift into dairy

Haldiram’s Nagpur, India’s ethnic snack-food behemoth, is expanding by constructing its own production plant for long-shelf-life dairy goods.

Haldiram’s Nagpur is expanding its reach beyond its present markets of Maharashtra, Goa, and Chhatisgarh by establishing a dairy factory with an investment of more than Rs. 100 crores.

Haldiram’s has chosen SIG, a manufacturer of aseptic carton packaging, to assist with its expansion. For the first time, Haldirams Nagpur has invested in its own production facility for filling products into aseptic carton packs, and SIG has supplied the firm with a high-speed CFA 1224 filling machine for combiblocXSlim carton packs.

According to Sushil Agarwal, director of Haldiram’s Nagpur, “SIG provided us with cutting-edge technology that allowed us to fill nine different volume sizes on a single filling machine at great speed. This provides us with several alternatives for packing a wide range of items in a wide range of packaging shapes and sizes. Furthermore, the beautiful, thin carton boxes are eye-catching and stand out on the shelf.”

Beginning with co-packaging its goods through contract manufacturers, Haldiram’s Nagpur stated that it intends to develop a broader range of ethnic dairy and non-dairy items by using its current retail network and distribution skills.

According to Neeraj Agarwal, marketing director at Haldiram’s Nagpur, “Haldiram’s is a household name synonymous with high quality and amazing goods. We know that with SIG, we will be able to expand this significantly into the ethnic beverages market. We will be able to provide drinks that people truly appreciate, in the appropriate-sized package for various consumption circumstances.”

Butter milk, known as Matka Jhatka, will be marketed in 200ml combiblocXSlim carton boxes, along with Aam Panna, Jal Jeera, and a range of lassi items. More inventions are now in the works.

Vandana Tandan, SIG India’s national manager, stated, “We are really thrilled to be collaborating with Haldiram’s Nagpur. Their desire to produce distinct goods aligns perfectly with SIG’s filling system, which provides maximum flexibility. We feel that by partnering with Haldiram’s, we will be able to create some truly creative products while also growing together in this fascinating area of ethnic beverages.”

Haldiram’s is also establishing a network of broad franchise outlets in a number of Indian towns, offering everything from sweets and confectionary to namkeens, juices, and more.
