UP Highlights Focus on Food Processing, AI, and Manufacturing at Davos, Switzerland

Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh outlined the state’s strategic investment priorities during the World Economic Forum (WEF) meeting in Davos, emphasizing the food processing industry, electronic manufacturing, and emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI).

Speaking on the sidelines of the forum, Singh highlighted the state’s commitment to leveraging its agricultural strength, advanced manufacturing capabilities, and tech-focused initiatives to drive economic growth. He also shared updates on high-level discussions with global corporations, including Budweiser, Coke, Pepsi, and Microsoft, aimed at attracting investments.

“Our top focus is on the food processing industry, as agriculture is the backbone of Uttar Pradesh. Enhancing food processing directly boosts employment and increases income for farmers,” Singh said. He also underscored the state’s leadership in electronic manufacturing, noting that 55% of India’s mobile phones and nearly 60% of electronic components are produced in Uttar Pradesh.

In addition, Singh stressed the state’s focus on new-age technologies such as AI and geospatial mapping. “We are meeting with companies like Microsoft and others in geospatial mapping to explore collaborative opportunities,” he added.

The WEF 2025, taking place from January 20 to 24, has brought together representatives from eight Indian states and the central government. Notable attendees include Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw, Chirag Paswan, and Jayant Singh Chaudhary, as well as state leaders like Devendra Fadnavis and Chandrababu Naidu.

This year’s forum, themed “Collaboration for the Intelligent Age,” aims to strengthen global partnerships in trade and investment while addressing pressing global challenges. The Uttar Pradesh delegation’s efforts align with India’s broader agenda to solidify ties with international businesses and foster economic development.
