Zomato has increased its platform fee for food delivery to ₹10 per order during the festive season, up from ₹7 earlier, as per updates on the company’s app. The Gurgaon-based food delivery giant explained that the fee helps maintain its services during the high-demand festive period.
The platform fee was first introduced by Zomato in 2023 as a flat ₹2 charge per order, and it has steadily increased since then. Rival Swiggy, based in Bengaluru and the first to implement such a fee, followed Zomato’s move by also raising its platform fee from ₹7 to ₹10 per order on Wednesday.
This fee increase comes as both companies face heightened operational pressures during the festive season, with surges in food delivery demand across the country. Both platforms are keen to ensure smooth functioning amid the seasonal rush while managing rising operational costs.
