Zomato has unveiled a new campaign paying tribute to Kolkata’s iconic street food vendors, celebrating their vital role in the city’s rich food culture during the festive season of Durga Puja. The campaign, created in collaboration with local artisans, highlights the names and locations of some of the most prominent street food vendors in the city, emphasizing their contribution to Kolkata’s culinary heritage.
Sahibjeet Singh, Zomato’s marketing head, stated, “This campaign is our tribute to Kolkata’s iconic street vendors who are not necessarily on the Zomato platform at the moment but are a key part of the city’s cultural fabric.”
As part of the campaign, Zomato has showcased a 300-meter-long alpana, traditional Bengali folk art, on Street Number 104, Action Area 1B, Newtown, Kolkata. The artwork and video feature some of the city’s beloved street food vendors, none of whom are currently listed on the Zomato platform. The initiative aims to honour these unsung culinary heroes who continue to shape Kolkata’s vibrant street food scene.
