NABARD supports bakery training program launched in Changlang

On 22nd August 2020, a training Programme on Cake Making & Bakery Products for SHGs of Changlang District under Micro Enterprise Development Programme (MEDP) was launched to boost women empowerment.

The self-independent programme was sponsored by the “National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD)” and executed by an NGO named ‘Green Lawn Society’ (GLS). A total of 30 members from different SHGs of Changlang township area will undergo the training on bakery products. The training program has been organized so that women attendees could start their own bakery and related businesses.

Marina Kenglang, Chairperson, GLS, illuminated that this training program is conducted aiming to help the rural women to get skilled in baking and bakery products for micro enterprise development. This program will definitely empower rural women for better income and self-sustenance. She also emphasized the scope and importance of skill training that would enhance the socio–economic status of rural masses, especially women entrepreneurs and raise the standard of living.

Shri Kamal Roy, DDM, NABARD, briefed on MEDP for the benefit of rural women and Self Help Groups (SHGs). MEDPs are on-location skill development training programmes which attempt to bridge the skill deficits or facilitates optimization of production activities already pursued by the SHG members. It will also boost the Govt. of India objective for ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat’ & ‘Vocal for Local’. Thus fulfilling all the requirements, this move will add to the development of the state of Arunachal Pradesh.
