NWCG has high hopes for its first generic promotion campaign in India

Northwest Cherry Growers (NWCG) is optimistic about its first generic marketing effort in India.

This week, a campaign launch event was conducted at Foodhall’s Chanakyapuri shop in New Delhi. Pacific Northwest cherries will be available in retail locations and on e-commerce platforms during July and August.

The shop set up a vivid display of cherries grown in the Pacific Northwest of the United States and NWCG was encouraged by the favourable consumer response.

“We believe Northwest cherries have enormous potential in India,” said Sumit Saran, NWCG’s in-country marketing representative for India.

“We have devised a comprehensive retail and promotion strategy to bring this delectable fruit to discerning Indian consumers throughout the country.” These cherries will be available from traditional fruit dealers as well as e-commerce platforms.”

Pacific Northwest cherries will be available in the Indian market during the months of July and August, complementing the Indian cherry season.

At the inauguration event, Ron Verdonk, agricultural minister at the US Embassy in New Delhi emphasised the offering’s outstanding quality.

“The United States is one of the world’s largest producers and exporters of sweet cherries,” noted Verdonk. “These cherries from the United States’ Pacific Northwest are grown in the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, and Montana, and people around the world enjoy their sweet flavour, larger size, and excellent quality.

“I am delighted to see them here in India. Food is a very an important part of India-US trade, and I am glad that cherries from our Pacific Northwest is now added to the basket.”
