Tea Research Institute is going to sign MoU with Patanjali to collaborate on advanced research to extract several chemical compounds from tea leaves and seeds to be used in medicine, cosmetics and wellness products. Acharya Balkrishna, MD, Patanjali Ayurved Ltd. stated that Patanjali will work with Industries and Commerce Department to promote medicinal plantation in Assam and buy back from farmers for their products manufactured in Sonitpur and Haridwar.
During the course of the meeting, it was decided that Tocklai Tea Research Institute will soon sign a MoU with Patanjali to collaborate on advanced research to extract several chemical compounds from tea leaves and seeds to be used in medicine, cosmetics and wellness products. This will open new vista of opportunities in tea sector and revitalize the industry significantly’, said Minister Patowary. He further hoped that since Assam has a huge presence of medicinal plants, collaboration with Patanjali will hugely benefit the state.
