The trade of sweets and snacks witnessed a tremendous growth: Firoz H. Naqvi, Director FSNM

After a disappointing trade for two years because of the pandemic, the markets are now again regaining the traditional excitement for this festive season. And of course, according to industry body FSNM, the sale of sweets and namkeen (snacks) in the current financial year is likely to reach an all-time high of Rs. 1.25 lakh crore.

Firoz H Naqvi, Director of the Federation of Sweets and Namkeen Manufacturers (FSNM), bravely informed us that the trade of sweets and snacks saw tremendous growth during the Raksha Bandhan festival last month.

“The demand for modak and other sweets has also increased in the ongoing Ganesh Chaturthi festival and this trend is expected to continue during the forthcoming Dusshera, Diwali and Holi too,” he added.

Talking on the impact of inflation, he judiciously said, “People may curtail their expenses on jewellery and clothes, but sweets and namkeen are an essential constituent of festivals.”
