India’s Biryani Craze Keeps Food Delivery Companies Busy

India’s obsession with biryani shows no signs of slowing down, keeping food and delivery companies on their toes. According to Swiggy’s latest report, India ordered 2.5 biryanis every second in 2023, with a 20% increase in restaurants offering the dish.

Ankush Grover, CEO of Rebel Foods, reported 20-25% annual growth in their biryani segment, with plans to expand into new markets, including tier-II cities and international regions. Grover also announced a pilot in Mumbai for ‘Mehfil-e-Behrouz’, a buffet-style setup for gatherings.

House of Biryani CEO Mohammed Bhol aims to expand to Delhi and Pune, projecting over Rs. 100 crore in revenue by 2025. Biryani by Kilo co-founder Vishal Jindal reported increased revenue and outlet count, with plans for further expansion and faster delivery services.

Cafe Delhi Heights sees an 8-10% annual growth in biryani sales, while FHRAI president Pradeep Shetty noted members are innovating with varieties and enhancing delivery experiences. The biryani boom continues to shape the food delivery landscape across India.
