Reliance Consumer Products Acquires Packaged Foods Brand SIL

Reliance Consumer Products (RCPL), a subsidiary of Reliance Retail Ventures, has acquired the packaged foods brand SIL, known for products like cooking pastes, jams, and sauces. This acquisition aims to strengthen RCPL’s position in the FMCG sector and expand its distribution network nationwide.

The 75-year-old SIL brand, initially started as James Smith & Co., has changed ownership multiple times. Its manufacturing facilities are located near Pune and Bengaluru. SIL was last owned by Food Service India, a supplier to hotels and restaurants.

RCPL plans to leverage its strategy of competitive pricing, higher trade margins for retailers, and reviving legacy brands to compete with established players like Hindustan Unilever, Tata Consumer, and Cremica.

Over the years, RCPL has acquired brands such as Ravalgaon, Campa soft drinks, Sosyo carbonated beverages, and Lotus chocolates. The company reported ₹8,000 crore in revenue for the first nine months of FY25 and is targeting ₹1,000 crore from its Campa and Independence brands by the fiscal year’s end.
