Luxmi Group Acquires Majority Stake in Brew Tea Co., Strengthens Farm-to-Cup Vision

Tea producer Luxmi Group, known for its heritage brands including Makaibari Darjeeling, has acquired a majority stake in Brew Tea Co., a premium specialty tea company recognized for its ethical sourcing and direct-to-consumer model.

Based in Manchester and founded by Phil and Aideen Kirby, Brew Tea Co has established itself as one of the fastest-growing specialty tea brands, delivering whole-leaf teas and proper tea bags to nearly 10,000 households across the UK through its subscription service. The co-founders will retain a 20% stake and continue to lead the company.

The partnership aims to build a seamless farm-to-cup model, combining Luxmi’s century-old expertise in cultivating teas across Assam, Darjeeling, and Rwanda with Brew Tea Co’s innovation in consumer engagement and ethical practices.

“Their vision, hands-on leadership, and deep focus on quality remain central to Brew Tea’s growing success,” Luxmi Group said in a statement. “We’re excited that with Luxmi, we can now take that same customer promise even further, with even better access to exceptional teas,” the Brew Tea Co founders added.

Luxmi Group Managing Director Rudra Chatterjee emphasized the strategic value of the acquisition: “This partnership allows us to create a rare and complete farm-to-cup model that delivers quality with traceability. As tea celebrates its historic journey, we’re proud to help bring traditional craftsmanship back to the global spotlight.”

The move marks Luxmi’s deeper foray into international markets, while positioning Brew Tea Co to scale its offerings and expand access to sustainably sourced, high-quality teas.
